Dress a Girl Around the World Project

Ladies of the congregation are invited to take part in sewing simple dresses for young girls. The dresses will be delivered through the Orphan Grain Train mission to areas of the world where there are very warm climates. The dresses can be cut and sewn from a pillowcase (which is the original theme of the project), or from approximately one yard of fabric. We have set a goal of providing 100 dresses for girls and would love to have our ladies participate in this project. Check out the sample dresses on display in the narthex. If you have any questions, you may contact Char Dale at 218-537-1187 or Joyce Roehl at 218-736-6158 who have graciously volunteered to answer your questions in regards to the pattern, sewing, trims on the dresses, and etc.

Char has also volunteered to do the sewing if you prefer to just provide the fabric. Fabric or pillow cases can be left by the display table in the narthex. Also, if you choose to just sew the dress, the Trinity Crafters will be happy to add the pockets and/or the trimmings.

Thank you for your support of this “Dress a Girl” project. We hope to meet our goal in the next few months.

World Relief & Human Care Sunday- November 21st

The nationally designated LCMS World Relief and Human Care Sunday is November 21st. The theme for this day is “The Soldiers of the Cross.” Since 2004, Soldiers of the Cross has provided emergency support and pastoral care for LCMS church workers based on financial need. Helping church workers retain health insurance is a top concern. In the last year, a 55 percent increase in the number of Soldiers of the Cross grants and a growing number of grant recipients requiring assistance for longer periods have led to the fund’s depletion. On this special Sunday, a donation envelope will be inserted in the bulletin. Please use this envelope to contribute the Soldiers of the Cross. The Bible study for the day will be “The Church’s Care for the Needy.”  The Human Care Board will be serving fellowship goodies on this Sunday. Celebrate Christ’s mercy by caring for church workers in need.

These will be small to medium size families. Everyone will have an opportunity to buy a Christmas gift(s) for someone in need. The family gift lists will be available in early November. At that time, please sign up for a gift(s) and do the Christmas shopping as soon as the information is made available. This gift may be the only one they receive for Christmas.
