Trinity’s LCMS, World Relief and Human Care Sunday is April 10th with special guest, Charlie Kiersch, Ministry Representative from WR-HC. The theme for the day is “Building Homes and Hope for Haiti.” The 9:00 am church service will be followed by a 10 minute “A Decade of Mercy” DVD presentation. A brunch consisting of egg bake, Texas toast, fruit salad, juice, and coffee will be served by the Human Care Board at 10:30 am. Charlie will provide a presentation on Haiti following the brunch. His presentation will include a short 5 minute “BHHH” followed by the latest information on Haiti. Trinity will then present Charlie with 100+ dresses for girls around the world. He will drop these off at the Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk, Nebraska, and from there the dresses will be included in a shipment to Haiti. A “group” picture will be taken of everyone who made dresses, donated material and notions, and the Human Care Board members. This picture will be submitted to the Lutheran Witness, to be included in the MNN section. The Trinity Crafters are funding the purchase of metallic cross necklaces for the girls, which will be included with the dresses. Come and enjoy the brunch and Charlie’s presentation. Ask your questions about World Relief and Human Care and help the people in Haiti.

Great News! Ladies of the congregation are well on the their way to meeting the goal we have set of sewing 100 dresses for girls worldwide. So far we have 74 finished dresses! One of them was sewn by our youngest seamstress, Emily Haugmo! Stop by the display in the narthex to see the wonderful job our ladies have done!

We must keep up the momentum so we can ship the dresses as soon as possible. We have had a fabulous amount of fabric donated so we are in need of more ladies to do the sewing. If you can help with sewing these simple dresses, please call Char Dale at 218-537-1187 (she has the fabric), or Joyce Roehl at 218-736-6158.

Thank you to all our members who are working so willingly and generously on these dresses which will surely be a delight to the hearts of young girls around the world.

The dresses will be delivered through the Orphan Grain Train mission to areas of the world where there are very warm climates. The dresses can be cut and sewn from a pillowcase (which is the original theme of the project), or from approximately one yard of fabric. We have set a goal of providing 100 dresses for girls and would love to have our ladies participate in this project. Check out the sample dresses on display in the narthex. If you have any questions, you may contact Char Dale at 218-537-1187 or Joyce Roehl at 218-736-6158 who have graciously volunteered to answer your questions in regards to the pattern, sewing, trims on the dresses, and etc.

Char has also volunteered to do the sewing if you prefer to just provide the fabric. Fabric or pillow cases can be left by the display table in the narthex. Also, if you choose to just sew the dress, the Trinity Crafters will be happy to add the pockets and/or the trimmings.

Thank you for your support of this “Dress a Girl” project. We hope to meet our goal in the next few months.
